Congratulations to Our New President – Dan Patton

The Memphis Woodcarvers Association is pleased to welcome Dan Patton as our new Club President.

Dan’s woodcarving journey began in 2019, and it didn’t take long for him to discover a passion for the craft. He joined the Memphis Woodcarvers Association in 2021, although he jokes that he didn’t become truly active until 2023 because, as he puts it, “2022 was a bad year for hip replacements and back surgery!

When asked what style of carving he specializes in, Dan simply smiles and says he isn’t sure what to call it. His work spans carving in the round, bark carving, and relief carving, reflecting his willingness to explore a variety of techniques and subjects. One of his proudest accomplishments came when one of his handcrafted Santa carvings earned an award at the Delta Fair, recognizing the quality and craftsmanship of his work.

As President, Dan brings not only his growing experience as a woodcarver but also his enthusiasm for learning, sharing ideas, and encouraging others to enjoy the hobby. Whether you’re a seasoned carver or picking up a carving knife for the first time, Dan is committed to making the Memphis Woodcarvers Association a place where everyone feels welcome, challenged, and inspired.

Please join us in congratulating Dan Patton on his new role as President. We look forward to his leadership and to another great year of carving, learning, and fellowship.

Happy carving!
