The Memphis Woodcarvers Association is a welcoming community of individuals who share a passion for woodcarving, woodworking, and lifelong learning. Whether you are attending a meeting for the first time or have been carving for many years, we ask everyone to help create an environment that is friendly, respectful, and inclusive.
Our Values
We encourage:
- Respect for all participants, regardless of age, experience, background, or carving style.
- A willingness to share knowledge, techniques, and encouragement.
- Patience with beginners and appreciation for experienced carvers.
- Safe woodworking and woodcarving practices.
- Constructive feedback that helps others learn and grow.
Expected Behavior
Members and visitors are expected to:
- Treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
- Be welcoming to newcomers.
- Listen to others and avoid disruptive behavior.
- Use appropriate language during meetings and online discussions.
- Respect the property of meeting facilities and fellow woodcarvers.
- Follow all safety instructions during demonstrations, classes, and carving sessions.
- Respect copyrights and give proper credit when sharing another person’s work.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behavior is not appropriate at meetings, events, or on our website or social media platforms:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind.
- Threatening or abusive language.
- Personal attacks or bullying.
- Disruptive behavior that interferes with meetings or classes.
- Posting spam or inappropriate content on our website or social media.
- Knowingly engaging in unsafe practices that place others at risk.
Photography
Photographs may occasionally be taken during meetings, demonstrations, classes, or events and may be used on our website or social media to highlight club activities.
If you prefer not to appear in photographs, please let an event organizer know, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
